Max is in The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860-1989 curated by Alexandra Munroe. The Exhibition opens at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, in January 2009 as a centerpiece of the museum's 50th Anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright building. The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860-1989 is a masterpiece show featuring works by canonical figures of the 20th century and leading younger artists working today. The exhibition will travel to the West Coast, Asia, and Europe through 2010.
    A fully illustrated, 475 page catalogue will accompany the exhibition. Edited with an introduction by exhibition curator Alexandra Munroe, it will be the first comprehensive study of the influence of Asian aesthetics and philosophy on modern and contemporary art.

Gow Langsford Gallery published a series of screenprints at Artrite Press, Onehunga, Auckland. GLG has published a new series of prints in May 2008.


Page Blackie Gallery, Wellington, opens an exhibition of new works on May 19.


An exhibition of new work opens in 2009 at the Nadene Milne Gallery, Arrowtown, New Zealand.


Max was Artist in Residence at HuiPress on the Island of Maui in July 2008 where he made etchings and met with W.S. Merwin to discuss a collaborative project.
